Pedro Gomes

Pedro Gomes was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. After beginning his career in finance, he felt called to make the leap to work in social projects run by the Catholic Church. Pedro has experience in working or volunteering at over a dozen faith‐based organizations. These include volunteering in a Salesian Youth Center in the Brazilian Amazon, working as the project manager for the Salesian and Porsche Training and Recruitment Center in Cape Town, and as a house father in a home for street youth in Johannesburg. Pedro came to the USA to complete a Master’s degree in Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership and currently resides in Grand Rapids. He is drawn to the work of Deus Caritas Est because of the simple practicality of its mission – responding to the call of Christ to “feed the hungry,” especially the most vulnerable seniors in our community.
